About Us: A unique not-for-profit, Plumb Learning CIC teaches plumbing and tiling to 6 to 16 year olds. We are dedicated to supporting the social mobility and general wellbeing of young people through hands-on vocational learning opportunities.
We are looking for two experienced teaching assistants. Each will provide support to an individual student on a 1:1 basis within a small group setting at our Alternative Provision in central Hebden Bridge.
Successful candidates must be comfortable being outdoors for long periods of time and have/ be happy to learn practical vocational and rural skills.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about encouraging suitable engagement levels within a low demand environment and who have experience working with children between year 5 and year 10 with complex trauma and EHCPs.

Our core plumbing and tiling sessions are delivered through one off workshops, short courses and 1:1 tuition. Following a successful expansion across the UK we are now recruiting an enthusiastic group of volunteers to support the local team in Hebden Bridge. We have two main aims – to reach more disadvantaged young people with our existing services and to further develop our workshops, making them accessible for deaf and blind children and those in wheelchairs. Job Description Our organization is on the lookout for a proactive and imaginative Grant Funding and Development Coordinator to join our volunteer team. This multifaceted role is essential for driving our mission forward, allowing us to serve more disadvantaged young people by securing necessary funds and enhancing our inclusivity. Working within a small team, reporting to the project manager, the selected candidate will not only be instrumental in identifying and applying for grant funding but also in pioneering community fundraising initiatives to bolster our project’s visibility and financial stability. Key Responsibilities:
- Grant and Funding Strategy: Research and identify grant opportunities, crafting compelling bids under the guidance of the Project Manager. Ensure meticulous adherence to grant application guidelines and deadlines.
- Community Fundraising Development: Lead and innovate community fundraising activities, brainstorming and implementing new ideas to engage the community and secure additional funds.
- Inclusivity Efforts: Actively contribute ideas and initiatives to make our services more inclusive and accessible to a broader audience of disadvantaged youth.
- Relationship Cultivation: Excel in building and nurturing relationships with internal team members, community partners, and potential funders through outstanding communication skills.
Requirements:
- At least one year of experience in a similar role, with a background in bid writing, events management, or creative fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability in successful grant writing and/or developing and executing fundraising initiatives.
- Strong familiarity with the grant application process and a keen understanding of effective community engagement strategies.
- Commitment to a minimum of 4 hours per week for at least three months, with excellent relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.

Community Leader Training
Anyone can train as a Plumb Learning CIC workshop leader. You don’t need to be a qualified plumber or have any prior teaching experience. We’re looking for diverse individuals who want to make a positive impact in their community by empowering young people aged 6 to 16 with practical skills and confidence through hands-on plumbing workshops.
The Plumb Learning training is designed to support YOU in stepping into leadership with confidence and purpose, no matter your starting point.
What to Expect at Plumb Learning CIC:
Join us at Plumb Learning CIC and embark on a fulfilling journey of empowerment and education for young minds aged 6 to 16. Our workshops are designed to build confidence, inspire curiosity, and demystify trade skills for children and young people.
Workshop facilitators will have the unique opportunity to engage them with hands-on plumbing and tiling themed workshops that are not only fun but also incredibly relevant to everyday life.
Office based staff will be at the forefront of helping to spread the word, keep on top of the day-to-day and increase the reach of our distinctive workshops and short courses.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Strong community connections and contacts within the education industry or home education network
- Current Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certification
