About Us:

A unique not-for-profit, Plumb Learning CIC teaches plumbing and tiling to 6 to 16 year olds. We are dedicated to supporting the social mobility and general wellbeing of young people through hands-on vocational learning opportunities. Our core plumbing and tiling sessions are delivered through one off workshops, short courses and 1:1 tuition.

Following a successful expansion across the UK we are now hiring a new project manager with responsibility for growing our central Hebden Bridge location.

 

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our community engagement efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business to our central Hebden Bridge location and ensuring the success of our vocational learning programs. They will have an active role in selecting their perfect team and take on the responsibility for ensuring their ongoing efficiency.

As an experienced project manager reporting directly to the senior management team you will input into the sales and brand awareness strategies, monitor project progress and set deadlines. You will take accountability for proof-reading all communications prior to publication and for establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

– Develop forward-planning strategies to maximize outreach and engagement within the local community, with the primary goal of driving business to our central Hebden Bridge location.

– Manage and motivate the team to achieve project targets and objectives.

– Monitor and track project progress, updating systems and setting deadlines to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.

– Implement digital strategies to increase brand awareness and attendance at our central location.

– Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including schools, community groups, and local government bodies, to enhance sales and revenue generation opportunities.

– Conduct proofreading and quality checks on project materials before public release, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

– Support wider organizational goals and initiatives as directed by senior management.

 

Requirements:

– Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management and team leadership.

– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

– Strong attention to detail and proficiency in proofreading and editing.

– Experience in digital strategy implementation and team management.

– Familiarity with Canva and AI tools is desirable, or a willingness to learn.

 

Training and Onboarding:

 

Week 1: Orientation and Goal Setting

During the first week of employment, new team members will undergo a comprehensive orientation process to familiarize themselves with our organization’s operations, goals, and culture. This will include:

  1. Introduction to Organizational Operations: Understanding how Plumb Learning operates, including its mission, values, and structure.
  2. Goal Setting: Setting clear, achievable goals aligned with the company’s objectives to provide a roadmap for success.
  3. Introduction to Frameworks: Familiarization with the frameworks used for various aspects of our operations, such as personnel management, marketing strategy development, communication tone and platforms, and administrative procedures.
  4. Values Assessment: Brainstorming sessions to identify and understand the values that each team member brings to the organization and what they value in a team.

 

First Month: Hands-on Experience and Training

During the first month, new team members will immerse themselves in the day-to-day operations of Plumb Learning. This will include:

  1. Working with Senior Management: Collaborating closely with senior management to gain insights into decision-making processes, team dynamics, and strategic planning.
  2. Recruitment and Team Building: Participating in the recruitment and selection process to build their own team. This includes evaluating candidate strengths, strategizing team compositions, and conducting interviews.
  3. Practical Workshop Training: Engaging in compulsory training sessions tailored for all Plumb Learning staff. This includes practical workshop training to gain firsthand experience in the services we offer, understand the products we sell, and effectively communicate their benefits.
  4. Continuous Support and Training: Offering ongoing support and training throughout the duration of the contract, as needed. This ensures that team members have the resources and assistance necessary to excel in their roles.

 

Ongoing Support and Review:

Plumb Learning is committed to the professional development and success of its team members. Therefore, we conduct quarterly reviews to assess progress, provide feedback, and identify areas for growth. Following a successful expansion across the UK we are now recruiting an enthusiastic group of volunteers to support the local team in Hebden Bridge. We have two main aims – to reach more disadvantaged young people with our existing services and to further develop our workshops, making them accessible for deaf and blind children and those in wheelchairs.

 

Job Description

Our organization is on the lookout for a proactive and imaginative Grant Funding and Development Coordinator to join our volunteer team. This multifaceted role is essential for driving our mission forward, allowing us to serve more disadvantaged young people by securing necessary funds and enhancing our inclusivity. Working within a small team, reporting to the project manager, the selected candidate will not only be instrumental in identifying and applying for grant funding but also in pioneering community fundraising initiatives to bolster our project’s visibility and financial stability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant and Funding Strategy: Research and identify grant opportunities, crafting compelling bids under the guidance of the Project Manager. Ensure meticulous adherence to grant application guidelines and deadlines.
  • Community Fundraising Development: Lead and innovate community fundraising activities, brainstorming and implementing new ideas to engage the community and secure additional funds.
  • Inclusivity Efforts: Actively contribute ideas and initiatives to make our services more inclusive and accessible to a broader audience of disadvantaged youth.
  • Relationship Cultivation: Excel in building and nurturing relationships with internal team members, community partners, and potential funders through outstanding communication skills.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in a similar role, with a background in bid writing, events management, or creative fundraising.
  • Demonstrated ability in successful grant writing and/or developing and executing fundraising initiatives.
  • Strong familiarity with the grant application process and a keen understanding of effective community engagement strategies.
  • Commitment to a minimum of 4 hours per week for at least three months, with excellent relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.

Workshop facilitators will have the unique opportunity to engage them with hands-on plumbing and tiling themed workshops that are not only fun but also incredibly relevant to everyday life. 

Office based staff will be at the forefront of helping to spread the word, keep on top of the day-to-day and increase the reach of our distinctive workshops and short courses.

Qualifications & Skills

We’re seeking candidates with a heart for working with young people in positive and impactful roles.

All of our role require a minimum of one year of related experience as well as an ability to make strong connections and creating positive relationships.

Our approach to teaching is rooted in mutual respect and engaging course content, so for facilitators a mixture of empathy and confidence in delivering our workshops is essential.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Strong community connections and contacts within the education industry or home education network
  • Current Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certification
